For 2015, the Red Bull Air Race World Championship makes a welcome return to Budapest

650,000 spectators lined the banks of the Danube back in 2009, when the last Red Bull Air Race World Championship took place. This year, once again the city will be alive with race fever on 4-5 July.

Hungary to host 2016 Beach Handball World Championship

The 2016 Beach Handball World Championship is to take place on Budapest's Margaret Island. The Beach Handball World Championship is a biannual competition for male and female national teams. It was first orgainsed by the International Handball Federation in 2004. The previous, 2014 event was held in Recife, Brazil.

Budapest to host 2016, 2017 Champions League Final Six in Waterpolo

The next two editions of the Champions League Final Six tournaments are awarded to Budapest, as was decided this weekend during an organisational meeting by the LEN Bureau in Glasgow, Scotland. This and last year's edition of the Champions League finale are staged in Barcelona. The Hungarian Federation are expected to take the 2016 edition to the famous Alfred Hajos stadium at Margaret Island, which was also the site of the 2014 European Championships.

Budapest chosen as host city of 2017 FINA World Championships

FINA, the international governing body of swimming, has announced that Budapest, Hungary, will host the 17th FINA World Championships and FINA World Masters Championships in July 2017. Budapest replaces Guadalajara, Mexico, as the host city. Budapest had been previously awarded the right to host the 2021 FINA World Championships and FINA World Masters Championships and a new bidding procedure will now be open for these events.
